Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day)

Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah) is increasingly observed throughout religious institutions in the United States and Canada.  As the horror of the actual destruction recedes in time, it is increasingly clear that the memory and lessons of that time must not be allowed to fade.  Furthermore,  people of good will everywhere recognize that we must stand together in community - regardless of religious preference - to help insure that such dark times never be repeated.

Accordingly, Temple Beth Shalom, The First Congregational Church of Hudson, Hudson United Methodist Church, the Laurel Lake Community, Christ Episcopal Church, and St. Mary Church will participate in a community-wide service of remembrance on Tuesday May 6th at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church. Please join us that evening as we set aside time and prayer on this day.  Prof. Yoram Eckstein, a survivor of those years will be our speaker.  In addition to teaching Geology at Kent State University, Eckstein is a poet whose latest book is titled, Shards of [personal] history and other poems.

A collection will be taken for donation to the Fund for the Righteous, an organization solely dedicated to aiding those Righteous Gentiles, still living in Europe, who saved Jewish lives during the Shoah.
